I can’t begin to share how excited I was when I learned that Theater Latte Da was moving into the Ritz Theater just a few doors down from the RBG a couple of years ago. I’ve had the privilege of knowing Peter Rothstein and his work since 2005 when he approached me to use one of my images for the playbill of La Boheme. Not long after I painted a portrait of the lead from their production of Susannah that again was used as the playbill. From my first exposure to them in 2005 to this day I have been a huge admirer and fan as I eagerly await each new performance.
It’s with great pleasure that I’m able to donate a small piece for their Annual Benefit Gala that will be held this Saturday evening! It’s an honor to support an organization as talented and thought provoking as this one. I’ve had the opportunity to meet and know many of the people involved with the theater from the actors to administration and I can attest that at every level, they are dedicated to the advancement of bold and innovative work and the promotion of the Twin Cities as a vital arts community.
The piece that I am donating and that will be auctioned off is a watercolor and pen and ink study entitled Twilight Reveries. The title of this piece was used as the title of a recent exhibition that I had at Gallery 360 and the study was in fact translated into a full fledged oil painting by the same name.
If you find yourself at the Gala Saturday evening, be sure to look for my piece! I would also highly encourage you to get tickets to one of their performances; I know you won’t be disappointed. And be sure to swing into the gallery before the show!
